About me
As a freelance communications specialist I bring a passion for words combined with commercial expertise from 20 years working in the industry.
My love of writing has been a central thread throughout my career, which has seen me provide communications advice to law firms, technology businesses and run busy press offices for a regional police force and national tourism organisation.
I first recognised the power of words when I was eight. I had chicken pox and missed out on the class trip over the iconic railway bridge across the Firth of Forth in Scotland. I was devastated. Did the train go up and down over the top?
After the trip there were endless class projects based on it and I felt left out. That was until we were asked to write a story including The Bridge. Mine started with a diamond heist in Edinburgh followed by a dramatic train-based escape over The Bridge. And yes, the train did go up and down over the top in my story. I could escape in the words and do what I wanted with them. I'd found what I loved.
